Run Access Program
Our commitment to making sure that cost, gear, or experience never stands between an LGBTQ+ person and the starting line.
The Run Access Program (RAP) brings community members to Pride weekend who would otherwise sit it out. It is a direct expression of our core value of radical access: everyone deserves joy in movement, regardless of financial means, physical ability, or running experience.
What the program provides
Fee assistance
- Free or deeply subsidized race registration
- Sliding scale and full-waiver options based on self-attested need, with no income verification
- Quiet enrollment, with no public flagging of participants
Gear access
- Running shoes through partnerships with retailers and gear sponsors
- Race-day apparel and essentials
- A gently used gear program for ongoing training
Training support
- Group training runs in the weeks before race day, with local LGBTQ+ run clubs
- A simple beginner training plan
- Optional mentor pairing with an experienced Proud to Run runner
Who it serves
RAP is open to any LGBTQ+ person or ally facing one or more barriers to participation: financial, experience, or having felt unwelcome in mainstream running spaces. Self-attestation is enough. We never ask for documentation of income or identity.
How it works
- Apply with a short form, under five minutes
- Community Partners, sponsors, and run clubs can also refer participants
- You will receive race details, a training plan, gear pickup info, and the group run schedule
- On race day, check in like everyone else. No separate line, no separate bib
